On Sunday July 31, 2016 Deertrees Theatre's Board of Directors and Artistic & Executive Director, Andrew Harris, hosted a unique fundraising event in classic 1930s style to celebrate the theatre's 80th Anniversary. Guests were welcomed to the historic grounds by stilt walkers and an
array of vintage cars from 1936 when Deertrees originally opened its doors as a opera house. A wine and hors d'oeuvres reception followed with
an amazing evening of entertainments in the Adirondack style theatre built of rose hemlock. Live performances included opera, piano and songs, classical music, a traditional Barber Shop Quartet, theatrical readings, as well as, Rudy Vallee's "Maine Stein Song." The theatre's 80th Anniversary Gala fundraiser was a magical event and was also featured in the Maine Sunday Telegram as a tribute to the theatre's historic milestone.
